For many students, the Honors Program is an important factor in their decision to join us at Temple University. The purpose of the Honors Admissions and Transitions Team (HATT) is to guide prospective students through their college decision-making process and support their transition to Temple University and the Honors Program during the summer orientations. Click below to find out more about the students who help us do that.
Entering First-Year Students
There is no separate application for incoming first-year students. All first-year students are reviewed for admission to the University Honors Program when they apply to Temple University. Reviews continue on a rolling basis throughout the admissions cycle. You will be notified of acceptance to the Honors Program on TUPortal.
We perform a holistic review of students, which includes a review of students' gpa, transcripts and extra-curricular activities. If standardized test scores are available, they will also be considered. However, they are not required or preferred for consideration.
Since we conduct holistic reviews, we do not have strict cut-off scores for admission. To give you a sense of how competitive our class is, our Fall 2020 Honors first-year students had an average high-school GPA of 3.95/4.0, an average SAT of 1441/1600, and an average ACT of 32.Honors does not review or award merit scholarships. Please visit the Temple University Undergraduate Admissions Page for more information regarding cost and aid.
