Mia Downs '25

Richboro, PA

Hi everyone! My name is Mia Downs (she/her) and I am a first year physics major from Bucks County, PA. For me, Temple has a rich family history: my grandparents and parents both attended and met each other at Temple, many of my aunts and uncles attended Temple, my brother is also a current Temple Honors student, and my grandfather, mother, and uncle taught/teach at temple. During the day, I can be seen on campus working as a Teaching Assistant for Elementary Classical Physics I or working on the Measurement of a Lepton-Lepton Electroweak Reaction (MOLLER) experiment. Basically, we’re exploring the asymmetry of the interaction between two electrons and the mirror image of that interaction. When I’m done spending my day doing physics work, I will be trying to find the best gluten free food (since I have celiac and type 1 diabetes) in Philly--I love having honeygrow on campus and enjoy Center City’s Real Food Eatery falafel. For more fun, I like exploring the city, such as Chinatown, the Fashion District, or other local universities such as Penn or Drexel, so if you need any help navigating SEPTA feel free to reach out; I’m an expert on the subways, trains, and busses. Along with that, I’d love to help you with any other questions you have about Temple or if you’re curious about how to manage diabetes while in college and I hope to see you on campus soon!
